Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | May 29th 2015: BRVM returns positive and adds XOF 22 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 272.88 to 273.88 points, a gain of 0.37%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.32% to 268 against 267.14 points previously. The equity market capitalization was recorded at XOF 6,613.04 billion compared to XOF 6,591.72 billion previously (up by almost XOF 22 billion).
Looking at the market activity, it was quiet today with total volume traded of 30,633 (a fall of almost 90 percent compared to previous trading session total volume of 249,253) and total traded value was recorded at XOF 492.663 million (against XOF 1,168.341 million recorded on Thursday trading session) exchanging hands in 31 securities out of 39 listed securities via 230 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 14,950 traded shares and by value was SOCIETE GENERALE COTE D’IVOIRE with a XOF 119.83 million traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 1.74 percent and Price Earning Ratio was recorded at 25.76.
From the market price movers’ perspective, out of the 30 traded securities there were 15 price gainers, 8 price losers and 8 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end on a positive note. The top gainers were UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE (appreciated by 7.49 percent to close at XOF 24,830), SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE (gained 6.49 percent to close at XOF 84,500), BOLLORE LOGISTICS COTE D’IVOIRE (advanced 6.62 percent to close at XOF 161,000), SODE COTE D’IVOIRE (surged by 5.98 percent to close at XOF 68,885) and TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE (rose by 5.77 percent to close at XOF 220,000). On the other hand, topping the losers’ were BICI COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 6.40 percent to trade at XOF 87,510 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 6.00 percent to close at XOF 244,400. Also, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL declined by 3.85 percent and 2.96 percent to close at XOF 20,000 and XOF 65,015 respectively.
From a sector viewpoint, the sector indices ended in a positive note apart from financial services and distribution sector index down by 0.66 percent and 1.29 percent respectively. Transportation sector index went up by 6.48 percent and public utilities sector index advanced by 0.71 percent as well as agriculture sector index up by 0.38 percent to end at 220.47 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged.
